Harry was born and educated in Scotland but left in the mid 70’s to pursue his career, initially with multinationals such as ITT and Schlumberger where he rose to head up the instrumentation, measurement and control businesses world wide.
In 1990 he founded The Roxboro Group plc, an electronic components group of companies and in 1994 listed the company on the LSE. He was CEO until 2005 by which time the company was in the FTSE 400, having made a number of acquisitions including the Solartron and Weston groups and other bolt-on acquisitions. When he decided to sell the now enlarged Solartron and Weston Groups he became chairman of the re-named Dialight PLC in 2005 and focussed the company on the emerging industrial LED lighting market. During this time he became chairman of several companies including PERA International and Scientific Digital Imaging and was appointed Chairman of the Electronics Leadership Council.

Vice President of Intellect
Harry was appointed CBE by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 2008
He finally retired in 2012.
Harry and his wife Jane have homes in the Cayman Islands where they spend their winters, Portugal, where they have a villa in the Algarve and more recently in the Cotswolds where they built a house at The Lakes near Lechlade.
Harry’s great passion is fly fishing for trout and salmon in Europe and bonefish and tarpon in the Caribbean.
He is a modest social golfer, an amateur plantsman and gardener and enjoys travelling and reading crime thrillers and biographies.
